My Top 10 Tips for Freelancers

This week’s challenge is to share your top tips for freelancers. I’ve been a freelancer for more than 11 years now, so figured I’d toss in a few. (And if you’d like to check out My 3-Step Formula for Finding Work as a Freelancer, that’s new too!)

Lucky

Tip Number One

Why These?

Are these really my “top” tips? Some are. Others address things I see and hear fellow freelancers struggle with all the time.

I hadn’t expected to create a demo, but was lucky enough to find these pics from artist Emily Beeson on MorgueFile, started playing with them, and this is the result.

Nice tips – but any ideas on how to get the work. Do I have to go and learn Articulate? I don’t want to be a button pusher – there are too many of those – so what other options do I have? Can you do another list on how tout and gain clients (marketing, PR, web site, networking etc..) when starting out as a freelancer. Thanks

Thanks, Con! Somehow I think you’ve got all the leads you need, but perhaps you’re asking on behalf of others?

How to get good work as a freelancer is a great question. I think I’ll write a post about that.

Hi Avery! You’re so welcome. Thanks for stopping by!

Since freelancing always seems to be harder than expected, there’s a good chance you’re on the right path. It’s such a gift to have those initial experiences since they help you figure out what does and doesn’t work and steer you towards the things that lead to success. Good luck – and have fun!
